MyRoad General Travel Award Competition 2026-2027

Description :

The MyRoad training and mentoring platform is renwing its General Travel Award Competition. This program aims at supporting trainees and early career investigators (according to the definition of CIHR) in the field of obesity, diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases to present their research results in national and international scientific events to promote dissemination of their discovery and increase career success.

Fund available :

A total of 6 awards of up to 1000$ will be funded yearly.

Deadlines for submitting applications :

  • September 15, 2026 for scientific events between December 2026 and March 2027.
  • January 15, 2027 for scientific events between April and July 2027.
  • May 15, 2027 for scientific events between August and November 2027.

Eligible expenses:

Transportation, accomodation and registration fees (allowable under CIHR research grant rules) to participate to the scientific event.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Only one application per candidate may be funded per year. Although a recipient of this funding may submit their application in subsequent years, priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received financial support in this competition.
  2. The candidate must give an oral or poster presentation integrating research results in the fields of obesity, diabetes or cardiometabolic diseases at the event.
  3. The scientific event must take place outside the province of residence or study of the candidate.
  4. The candidate must provide upon their return a text of max. 300 words, a graphic summary or a short video (max. 3-5 min) presenting the benefits of their participation in this scientific event.
  5. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed the Fundaments Level of the Core Training and Mentoring Program of MyRoad.

Please ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria of the funding call. Applications submitted late, incomplete or not meeting the eligibility criteria will not be evaluated.

  1. Please provide a brief description of your training path so far and, if relevant, how your lived experience may have influenced your progress. (max. 250 words)
  2. Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present funding call. (max. 250 words)
  3. Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress. (max. 250 words)
