MyRoad is pleased to invite you to the Anti-racism Training Session that will take place Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hôtel Chéribourg, Orford, the day before the CMDO/SQLNM/MyRoad Scientific meeting which will be held from February 5 to 7, 2025. You are invited to dine with us afterwards.
The Anti-racism Training Session offered in partnership with Indigenous patient partners from the CAN-Solve CKD and Diabetes Action Canada SPOR networks offers a unique opportunity for trainees to be introduced to various topics that could impact their careers including cultural safety/teachings, disrupting racism in health care/clinical research and equitable approaches to patient engagement. Through storytelling and video segments, attendees will gain insight into the diverse initiatives, collaborations, and contributions led by Indigenous patient partners from across Canada. These videos and presentations will showcase the unique experiences of Indigenous patients as they navigate the complexities of the diabetes and chronic kidney disease in their communities.
In addition, this session will feature opportunities to discuss ethical approaches to clinical care and clinical research with Indigenous patient partners themselves. These interactive discussions will provide trainees with providing deeper context and personal insights into the significance of the work they are doing. Attendees will have the chance to hear directly from and discuss various topics with patient co-researchers as they share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs in advocating for Indigenous health and wellness within the diabetes research landscape.
This session aims to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the vital role of Indigenous patient partners in shaping research priorities, policies, and practices. It also offers trainees and faculty members an opportunity to start on their own journey towards fostering equitable, anti-racist research programs and projects.

30 spots are available for interested trainees and early career investgators on a first come, first served basis.
Free registration for the session is available via the CMDO/SQLNM/MyRoad Scientific meeting registration.
