Call for application for the

MyRoad Trainee Day and 2024 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference

November 20-23, 2024

Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

MyRoad, in collaboration with Diabetes Canada, is calling for applications from trainees and Early Career Investigators to participate in the MyRoad Trainee Day and the 2024 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia from November 20 to 23, 2024.

During the MyRoad Trainee Day, you will have the opportunity to attend presentations on current research concepts in the fields of diabetes, obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, to participate in a workshop on communication and to benefit from a mentoring and networking session showcasing career success stories from various fields to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists.

* Instructions and information will be provided to participants prior to the event to fully engage in and benefit from this Trainee Day.

Through the course of the 2024 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference, you will have the opportunity to attend original research presentations and take part in information sharing with leading diabetes, endocrinology, and related field experts.

Travel Award

Travel awards of up to $1500 are offered to cover the conference registration fee, transportation, and accommodation for successful participants.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a graduated student or an Early Career Investigators in the field of obesity, diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases;
  • Not having any other source of funding to participate in this event;
  • Be registered for the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference, the MyRoad Trainee Day and have submitted an abstract.

How to apply?

We strongly encourage women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized people, people from ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and people from the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to apply for MyRoad funding. We invite applicants to share lived or professional experiences that they feel may relate to their submission. Applicants should feel free to share as little or as much as they wish according to their comfort level. Any information shared will be kept confidential by the selection committee. For the purposes of evaluation, we take care to recruit a diverse committee reflecting the profiles of the applicants and we ensure that the evaluation process considers the career stage and individual context of each applicant, including atypical trajectories. Please ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria of the funding call.

  1. Please provide a brief description of your training path so far and, if relevant, how your lived experience may have influenced your progress. (max. 250 words)
  2. Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present funding call. (max. 250 words)
  3. Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress. (max. 500 words)
  4. Please provide a confirmation from supervisor that no other sources of travel funding is available

Application form

The deadline for submission is September 16, 2024. There are 7 travel awards available. Selected candidates will be contacted in October 2024.
