MyRoad is pleased to announce its travel award competition to support attendance at the Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2026 Professional Conference and the 5th Annual CIRTN-R2FIC National Meeting in Vancouver.
The 5th Annual CIRTN-R2FIC National Meeting will take place from November 16–18, 2026, at the University of British Columbia, and includes a joint opening day with the Vancouver Diabetes Research Day.
The Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2026 Professional Conference will be held from November 18–21, 2026, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Please note:
- Individuals who are not members of CIRTN-R2FIC may register for the Annual National Meeting by paying the applicable registration fee.
Travel Awards
Travel awards of up to $1,500 CAD will be available to selected applicants to help cover registration, transportation, and accommodation expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a graduate student or an early-career researcher affiliated to a canadian institution working in the fields of obesity, diabetes, and cardiometabolic diseases;
- Be registered for both the Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2026 Professional Conference and the 5th Annual CIRTN-R2FIC National Meeting;
- Have no other source of funding available to support participation in this event.
Priority will be given to applicants who have submitted a scientific abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2026 Professional Conference.
How to Apply
We strongly encourage women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized people, people from ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and people from the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to apply for MyRoad funding. We invite applicants to share lived or professional experiences that they feel may relate to their submission. Applicants should feel free to share as little or as much as they wish according to their comfort level. Any information shared will be kept confidential by the selection committee. For the purposes of evaluation, we take care to recruit a diverse committee reflecting the profiles of the applicants and we ensure that the evaluation process considers the career stage and individual context of each applicant, including atypical trajectories. Please ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria of the funding call.
- Please provide a brief description of your training path so far and, if relevant, how your lived experience may have influenced your progress. (max. 250 words)
- Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present funding call. (max. 250 words)
- Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress. (max. 250 words)
- Please provide a confirmation from supervisor that no other sources of travel funding is available.
The deadline for submission is September 15, 2026. There are 5 travel awards available. Selected candidates will be contacted in October 2026.
