MyRoad Training and Mentoring Afternoon

MyRoad is pleased to announce a half-day training and mentoring session on the afternoon of November 25, 2025, prior to the Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2025 Annual Conference in Toronto. This activity is organized in collaboration with the CIRTN-R2FIC group as part of their 4th Annual National Meeting on November 24 and 25, 2025 whose theme is:

Beyond Academia – Connecting Innovation and Impact

Synergy Between Academia and Industry in Islet Research

Please note that:

  • The activity will be conducted in English
  • Non-members of the CIRTN-R2FIC organization can register for the two-day 4th Annual CIRTN-R2FIC National Meeting for a registration fee, or only for the MyRoad Training and Mentoring Afternoon, which is offered free of charge, by selecting the appropriate registration ticket.

Travel Awards

Travel awards of up to $1500 are offered to cover the conference and meeting registration fee, transportation, and accommodation for successful participants.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a graduated student or an early career investigators in the field of obesity, diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases;
  • Be registered for the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference and the 4th Annual CIRTN-R2FIC National Meeting and/or MyRoad Training and Mentoring Afternoon;
  • Not having any other source of funding to participate in this event.

Applications from individuals who have submitted a scientific abstract for oral or poster presentation at the Diabetes Canada/CSEM 2025 Annual Meeting will be given priority.

How to apply?

We strongly encourage women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized people, people from ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and people from the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to apply for MyRoad funding. We invite applicants to share lived or professional experiences that they feel may relate to their submission. Applicants should feel free to share as little or as much as they wish according to their comfort level. Any information shared will be kept confidential by the selection committee. For the purposes of evaluation, we take care to recruit a diverse committee reflecting the profiles of the applicants and we ensure that the evaluation process considers the career stage and individual context of each applicant, including atypical trajectories. Please ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria of the funding call.

  1. Please provide a brief description of your training path so far and, if relevant, how your lived experience may have influenced your progress. (max. 250 words)
  2. Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present funding call. (max. 250 words)
  3. Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress. (max. 500 words)
  4. Please provide a confirmation from supervisor that no other sources of travel funding is available

The deadline for submission is October 15, 2025. There are 5 travel awards available. Selected candidates will be contacted by the end of October 2025.
