TRAVEL AWARD COMPETITION

 

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE

CANADIAN NUTRITION SOCIETY ANNUAL CONFERENCE

May 8-10, 2025

Montreal, Quebec

MyRoad, in collaboration with the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS), is calling for applications from graduate, or professional academic or clinical training programs whose research is in a health-related area and are interested in nutrition related to obesity, diabetes, and cardiometabolism to attend and participate at the CNS annual conference in Montreal, Quebec from May 8-10, 2025.

Successful applicants will participate in a three-day conference with respected speakers discussing scientific research spanning basic, regulatory/policy, clinical and community nutrition. The conference offers an exceptional learning environment and brings together a range of expertise, including food and nutrition researchers, healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, industry representatives, government officials, and future leaders. The conference brings together some of the best expertise to offer an excellent learning experience for all delegates, including poster, oral and infographic competitions, several trainee activities (e.g. career panel), opportunities for networking, and social activities.

What is covered?

Conference registration fee (includes breakfast and lunch and the banquet), travel (plane, train, bus), and accommodation (for up to 3 nights) will be covered up to $1500 for successful participants.

Who is eligible? 

  1. Full-time student in an accredited graduate program (Masters or PhD), or professional academic or clinical training program (e.g. dietetics program) related to nutrition at a Canadian institution or within 8 months (2024/05 – Present) of Degree Received Date. Post-Doctoral Fellows within 8 months of training (2024/05 – Present) are welcome to apply.
  2. Candidates whose research is in a health-related area and are interested in nutrition related to obesity, diabetes, and cardiometabolism
  3. Applications must submit an abstract by the January 31, 2025 deadline for the CNS Annual Conference (https://conference2025.cns-scn.ca/abstracts-intro/call-for-abstracts), and this abstract must be accepted by the review committee.
  4. Confirmation from supervisor that no other sources of travel funding is available.
  5. Commitment to attend the full conference.

How to apply?

We strongly encourage women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized people, people from ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and people from the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to apply for MyRoad funding. We invite applicants to share lived or professional experiences that they feel may relate to their submission. Applicants should feel free to share as little or as much as they wish according to their comfort level. Any information shared will be kept confidential by the selection committee. For the purposes of evaluation, we take care to recruit a diverse committee reflecting the profiles of the applicants and we ensure that the evaluation process considers the career stage and individual context of each applicant, including atypical trajectories. Please ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria of the funding call.

Please write a summary of “your road” that includes your academic background, where you are, where you see yourself in the future, and what you hope to gain from this conference along that “road”. If relevant, please explain how your lived experiences have influenced your progress. The summary should be single spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, 2-cm margins, and be a maximum of 250 words.

Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present call (maximum 250 words).

DEADLINE?

The deadline for submission is January 31, 2025. There are 7 travel awards available. Selected candidates will be contacted in February 2025.
