Call for applications for the
Canadian Nutrition Society Annual Conference

MyRoad, in collaboration with the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS), is calling for applications from graduate, or professional academic or clinical training programs whose research is in a health-related area and are interested in nutrition related to obesity, diabetes, and cardiometabolism to attend and participate at the CNS annual conference in Edmonton, Alberta from May 2-4, 2024.

Successful applicants will participate in a three-day conference with respected speakers discussing scientific research spanning basic, regulatory/policy, clinical and community nutrition. The conference offers an exceptional learning environment and brings together a range of expertise, including food and nutrition researchers, healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, industry representatives, government officials, and future leaders. The conference brings together some of the best expertise to offer an excellent learning experience for all delegates, including poster, oral and infographic competitions, several trainee activities (e.g. career panel), opportunities for networking, and social activities.

What is covered?

Conference registration fee (includes breakfast and lunch and the banquet), travel ($500) for participants traveling by plane, and accommodation (for up to 3 nights) will be covered for successful participants.

Who is eligible?

  1. Full-time student in an accredited graduate (Masters or PhD), or professional academic or clinical training program (e.g. dietetics program) related to nutrition at a Canadian institution or within 8 months (2023/05 – Present) of Degree Received Date. Post-Doctoral Fellows within 8 months of training (2023/05 – Present) are welcome to apply.
  2. Applicants must submit an abstract by the March 11, 2024 deadline for the CNS Annual Conference , and this abstract must be accepted by the review committee.
  3. Confirmation from supervisor that no other sources of travel funding is available.
  4. Commitment to attend the full conference.

How to apply?

  1. A brief statement on your current career path (your road)

Please write a summary of “your road” that includes your academic background, where you are, where you see yourself in the future, and what you hope to gain from this conference along that “road”. If relevant, please explain how your lived experiences have influenced your progress. The summary should be single spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, 2-cm margins, and be a maximum of 250 words.

  1. Brief statement of significant achievements

Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present call (maximum 250 words).

  1. Brief description of contribution to academic and career progress

Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress (maximum 250 words).

 DEADLINE?

The late breaking abstract deadline is March 11, 2024. The call for application for the travel award competition is extended until the same date. There are 7 travel awards available. Selected candidates will be contacted by the en of March 2024.
